How did we get here and what do we hope for?
Sylvia Circle Baptist Church was founded in Rock Hill, SC in the 1950’s, and it experienced a period where it thrived as a church that reached its immediate context and neighborhood really well. Over time, however, the neighborhood began to change and the church found itself at a steady decline for consistent decades. Thankfully, there was a small group of remaining members of Sylvia Circle Baptist, who decided in 2018 to donate their facilities and assets to Park Baptist Church so they could see them be used to reach the neighborhood that surrounded the church’s building again. The saints of Sylvia Circle Baptist had been praying for the day that their church’s facility would see new life and would be used in overcoming any cultural barriers to the ministry of God and His Word for 30 years. It is exciting to now see how God is working to tear down walls of division through Pioneer Church, which now gathers in the facility of the former Sylvia Circle Baptist Church.
Pioneer Church began as a church body in August of 2021. Since day one Pioneer Church has been intentional about laboring with hope to see many come to know the Lord, to see barriers be torn down between brothers and sisters of different backgrounds, and to see generations of leaders be raised up to continue leading in these God-honoring efforts.
